Ordinary reading
The public guide library does not set an application session cookie just to let you read articles or search. The site loads its styles, scripts and images from this domain. A hosting provider or security service may operate its own controls outside the application; the site's operator should account for these if they are added.
Essential editor sessions
The private editor area uses a cookie called schools_direct_session to maintain an authenticated session. An XSRF-TOKEN cookie may also be used to support protection against forged form submissions. These are functional security cookies, not advertising identifiers.
Editor sessions expire after 90 minutes of inactivity or at the end of the browser session, subject to browser behaviour. Signing out invalidates the session. Production configuration sends session cookies only over HTTPS and prevents JavaScript from reading the session identifier.
Optional saved checklist
If you explicitly choose to save your website checklist progress, the site stores the selected items in local browser storage under schools-direct-website-checklist-v1. It stores checklist state, not a personal profile. It remains on that browser until you reset the checklist, disable saving or clear site data.
The budget planner and comparison worksheet do not save their entries automatically. CSV downloads are files on your device and are outside browser storage once downloaded.
Your controls
You can clear cookies and site data in your browser settings. Clearing essential editor-session cookies signs you out. Blocking optional local storage prevents saved checklist progress; the checklist still works during the current page visit. No advertising or analytics consent choice is needed for the features supplied in this build.
